Techniques
This workshop specialises in the tube-line process, which is among the most skill-intensive of all tile and pottery painting techniques.
Beginning with a selected unglazed "biscuit" tile, using a pencil or charcoal sketch as a guide, we use an 'icing bag' tool to slip-trail precise outlines of clay onto the tile.
Coloured glazes and detailed artwork are added before the tile is fired. The method is time-consuming but the finished tiles have a richness of colour and detail unchallenged by cheaper processes. |
